The Grange is 2 minutes from the junction of the A470 and A465 (Heads of the Valleys) and only 25 mins from J32 of the M4 at Cardiff.

Despite the secluded, quiet location, we are really easy to get to. Reach us by Train or Bus, Bike, Plane or Car – but please make sure you read the directions as the last 500 metres can be tricky if you don’t

Our Address is: The Grange, Pontycapel Road, Cefn-Coed-y-Cymmer, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 2PB.

By Train or Bus

You can get to Merthyr Tydfil by train using services from Cardiff Central station. It’ll take about an hour from Cardiff – services are every 30 mins Monday to Saturday and every two hours on Sunday. You can find train times on the National Rail Journey Planner.

As an alternative from Cardiff you can take either the T4 & X4 bus services which leave every 10 minutes at peak times and takes between 45-60 minutes.

If you’re coming from Brecon then you need the T4 bus service which rund every hour and takes around 25-30 minutes. This service starts from Newtown in Mid-Wales. Full timetable information for all Welsh bus services can be found on the Traveline Cymru website

Once you reach Merthyr you can take the 25 bus from the centre of Merthyr to Cefn Coed which (at the time of writing) runs between 0700-1830 Monday to Saturday. Alternatively you can get a taxi which will cost around £5 and we recommend EuroKabs who can be contacted on 01685 383838

By Bike

We love it when guests show up on bikes – if you’re planning to ride to The Grange contact us in advance for route advice

By Car

Our postcode is unique to our property, so should guide you directly to us, however at the time of writing (Feb 2019) it s still not recognised by Bing Maps and by some cars inbuilt sat-navs.

You will always find us by searching for “The Grange Guesthouse, Cefn Coed” on Google Maps and we strongly recommend doing that, or using the detailed directions below.

The Grange has on-site parking for one car per room, so if you bring more than that, we may have to ask you to park extra cars off site at busy times.

If in doubt, please call us on +44 (0)1685 359750 for advice or use the map below to get directions:
