What time is check-in & check-out?
Our standard check-in time is between 1500-2200 & check-out is by 1100 on the morning of your departure. Please contact us in advance if you’d like to check in or our outside these times so we can make arrangements, if possible.
If you’re a cyclist and want to get a ride in on your first day, feel free to arrange an earlier arrival and we can store your bags whilst you go out and ride. If you want to ride on your last day, we may be able to keep one or more of your group’s rooms open so that you have somewhere to shower and change when you’re finished. Please check with us first as this will depend on how full we are that evening.
Are you child-friendly?
Absolutely! We have 2 sets of cots & high chairs available for little ones.
The Red or Yellow rooms are perfect for guests with children. Both rooms have space for a cot and the Red room can be set up with one or two extra beds. If you’re with older children, you could book any room for you and the Blue room for them.
Are you pet-friendly?
Unfortunately at this time we’re not able to accept pets. We’re looking to get pets here ourselves in the future so it’s definitely something we’re looking at doing.
Are you bike friendly?
Most definitely. As cyclists ourselves, we make sure we have everything you need, from very secure storage for 27 bikes to kit & bike washing, help with routes & workshop facilities. See the Cycling at The Grange pages for more info.
Can I get here on public transport?
There are regular trains & buses (T4/X4 services) from Cardiff to Merthyr Tydfil town centre and we’re a short bus ride (No. 25 or 26) or taxi from the centre. Alternatively we can arrange pick-ups from train or bus stations in Abergavenny, Cardiff, Newport or Swansea as well as Cardiff Airport. See the How to Find Us page for more details
Do you have laundry facilities?
Yes – we will wash and dry regular laundry for £5 a load, however there are no facilities for guests to do their own laundry. The Cycling area has kit drying facilities and we also have shoe-heaters to dry out wet cycling shoes and walking boots
Do you have kitchen facilities?
We provide a great breakfast included in your room rate and also offer lunch and evening meals, however there are no guest cooking facilities. We’re happy to recommend and book some of the great places to eat locally and we’re also happy to provide plates and cutlery if you’d like to bring a take-away back to the house.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
We have a great selection of drinks available for you to buy at reasonable prices, but we know that guests sometimes want to bring their own. If you bring your own with you, we’re happy to chill them for you and provide glasses. We charge a corkage fee of £1 per beer/cider bottle or can, £5 per bottle of wine and £20 per bottle of spirits for this.
Where did you get those…..
Shoe Warmers? ebay. They take a few weeks to come from China and you’ll need to put a UK plug on them but at £5 each they’re well worth the trouble.

Payment, Deposit and Cancellation policy
When you book, we request your credit card details to confirm your reservation. For the vast majority of bookings we don’t take any money until you check out. The exceptions to this are for high-value bookings and group bookings. Please see below for further details
Accepted Payment methods
We accept cash and all major credit cards (including American Express). We do not accept cheques.
Bookings for 1 to 3 rooms
We will take a 25% deposit from your card only if the cost of your reservation is for £250 or more. We will do this within 72 hours of receiving the reservation.
If you cancel your booking:
More than 28 days before check in, there is no charge;
3 to 28 days before check in, we will charge you 25% of the cost of your booking or not refund your deposit;
2 days or less before check in, or do not show up on check-in day, we will charge you the full cost of your booking.
Group booking for 4 or more rooms, Whole-House bookings & Cycling Team Camps
We will take a 25% non-refundable deposit from your card for all bookings. We will do this within 72 hours of receiving the reservation.
If you cancel your booking:
More than 28 days before check in, we will not refund your deposit;
7 to 28 days before check in, we will charge you an additional 25% of the cost of your booking;
7 days or less before check in, or do not show up on check-in day, we will charge you the remaining 75% of the cost of your booking.
Cancellation charges for these bookings are higher as it is much less likely that we will be able to re-sell all of these rooms at short notice.
If we have charged a cancellation fee but you intend to rebook in the future, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org – we may, at our discretion, be able to issue a full or partial credit note against future stays at The Grange.
